Our motto is to give the children in our care the best day….every day! We are set in lovely open, green space where our children have lots of room to run, climb, roll and enjoy being outdoors and getting muddy! We offer Forest School provision for all our oldest children in Pioneers but all our children are free to choose to play outdoors every day, whatever the weather in their own garden spaces.
We have opened The Homestead nursery as we have a genuine passion for providing excellent childcare and provision. Everything we do has a why from the teeniest scoop to our campfire circle, everything has a purpose.
We have spent a long time planning our environment before opening the nursery and we spend a considerable time now on a weekly basis reviewing our provision to ensure it always meets our children’s needs and interests. We want to provide your child with different experiences so seek out recycled and reclaimed materials as well as interesting curios to spark interest, engage and excite our children.
We prefer to use natural materials whenever possible, for their sensory properties and try to source up-cycled and everyday objects and loose parts to encourage children's natural curiosity.
We love outdoors and our children spend a great deal of time practising and developing big physical skills in our lovely setting.
We encourage all our children to express themselves through messy/sensory play and using open ended resources in creative ways in their play. Reggio founder Loris Malaguzzi believed that children have 100 languages – so do we!
Our spaces focus on the children’s stage of development not their age as we want to support your child to develop and progress at their own pace.
We have seven spaces:
We encourage children to express themselves by using different media and materials.
Our Atelierista supports the children to develop different skills through creative projects.
We love outdoors and our children spend a large part of their time outdoors, exploring their environment, having opportunity to develop vital gross motor skills through climbing, running, rolling and generally being active and inquisitive. We learn how to grow and care for plants – as well as eat them!
We offer Early Education for our older children and provide four two and a half hour sessions each week during term time for children to practice and develop their skills in readiness for their next stage.
One of our Early Education sessions is based in Forest School so all children have the opportunity to spend time in our lovely outdoor environment practising skills such as tool use, fire lighting, den building and tree climbing.

Incredible. Its one the best decisions we ever made in our first years of parenting - sending our little one to The Homestead. She thrived in the environment, learning skills we'd never have the time to teach with her. She was encouraged to be nothing more than a child and to be free! She absolutely loved exploring all of the different spaces at every stage. The staff are wonderful and couldn't do more to make sure your child (and your peace of mind) feels safe, included and nurtured. The Homestead is truly magic.
Recently visited Rachel to see the ongoing developments at The Homestead. I was so impressed, the setting is fab, staff so friendly and children all happily exploring and having amazing experiences.
The outdoor space is really good, with so many learning opportunities throughout the whole setting! Just wish I had little children to send! Would recommend to anyone…go visit..you will love it!!! Well done Rachel, Kim and all the staff…keep doing what you are doing! Xx
We absolutely love this nursery! seeing what the kids are getting up to all day every day makes me want to quit my job and pretend i’m 2! Our boy is so happy there and so well teken care off! The management and all the staff are amazing, the place is beautiful and the outside space is fantastic for those little humans to run around and explore the world! I would totally recommend to anyone!
Hello we are Rachel Lloyd and Kim Jones and we have been the proud owners of The Homestead Nursery in Gresford Since May 2017.
We are both Mums to 3 lovely children so know the challenges and joys of bringing up children on a personal level.
Rachel is a former Early Years teacher and Kim a former nurse and Health Visitor, so we also have a great deal of professional child care experience In our different roles.
We have known each other for….a very long time!!! We have been friends since our daughters started at Gresford Playgroup together and have loved watching them grow up.
We wanted to open our own nursery as we were frustrated in our professions at not being able to always put our research based beliefs into practice. We also wanted to offer a unique, quality child care provision locally for parents to be able to choose an amazing environment for their children to grow and learn. We wanted to offer not "just" daycare as we know and have seen how important children's early experiences are to develop brain connections. These early years lay the foundations for the ability to form healthy relationships and shape children's capacity and love for learning so we wanted to provide interesting, engaging environments and experiences for children to explore, whatever their stage of development.
